Uncovering the Truth Behind Crusoe Osagie’s Statements on EBS

By Sulaiman Aledeh

To: Crusoe Osagie

In response to your recent statements, I have chosen to break my silence. The distortion and misinformation in your remarks have reached a level that cannot be ignored. As a responsible leader, it is imperative to set the record straight and seek the truth rather than resorting to fabrications.

The Situation at EBS

Upon assuming the role of Managing Director at the Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), I was faced with a dire situation. The station was in a state of disrepair, with no operational vehicles for news coverage and a non-functional newsroom. The lack of basic resources, such as desktop computers, exemplified the failure of the previous administration to equip EBS for modern broadcasting.

Power Supply Challenges

Your claims regarding EBS’s power supply issues are misleading. The station has faced consistent interruptions and challenges in broadcasting, leading to its current offline status. The narrative that EBS was deliberately shut down during a governor’s visit is false, as evidenced by comprehensive documentation of our communications with Ossiomo regarding power delivery.

Employee Neglect

The 60 employees hired under the previous administration have yet to receive their salaries since August 2024. This administrative negligence not only impacts their livelihood but reflects a lack of accountability and compassion. As someone who values the well-being of my team, I am actively working to address this issue and ensure they receive their hard-earned wages.

Mismanagement and Accountability

Valuable equipment, including DStv decoders, went missing during the transition between administrations, highlighting a lack of oversight and accountability. It is crucial to acknowledge these breaches of trust and responsibility rather than turning a blind eye to the systemic issues plaguing EBS.

Moving Forward

As the Managing Director of EBS, I am committed to rebuilding the station and restoring its integrity. I urge you to refrain from unfounded attacks and join me in prioritizing truth and transparency in our efforts to provide quality broadcasting services to the people of Edo. Together, we can address the challenges at hand and work towards a brighter future for EBS and the community it serves.
