NDLEA Arrests Nollywood Filmmaker with Cannabis, Drugged Cakes, and Codeine
In a shocking turn of events, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has made significant arrests in various parts of the country, uncovering a web of illicit drug activities. From a notorious drug kingpin in Lagos to drug laced cake producers in Kwara, this recent crackdown has shed light on the depth of the drug trade plaguing our society.
Alhaja Aishat Feyisara Ajoke Elediye: The Notorious Drug Kingpin
On Wednesday, January 1st, 2025, NDLEA operatives apprehended a wanted drug kingpin, Alhaja Aishat Feyisara Ajoke Elediye, also known as “Iya Ruka,” in her mansion in the Okota area of Lagos. This 61-year-old socialite had been on the NDLEA’s wanted list for leading a drug cartel in the Mushin area of Lagos. The interception of a truckload of illicit drugs from her staff marked the beginning of the end for her criminal activities.
Under the guise of a legitimate businesswoman importing fabrics and shoes from China, Alhaja Ajoke operated a massive illicit drug trade. Her arrest has exposed the underbelly of the drug underworld in Lagos, revealing the dual identity she maintained for years.
Emeka Emmanuel Mbadiwe: The Hollywood and Nollywood Filmmaker
In a separate operation, NDLEA officers arrested Emeka Emmanuel Mbadiwe, a US-trained filmmaker from Hollywood and Nollywood, at his Lekki hotel room. His partner, Uzoekwe Ugochukwu James, was also apprehended at a warehouse in Ajao estate Ikeja. The duo was involved in the distribution of a strong strain of cannabis known as Loud, concealed in wooden boxes imported from the United States.
Khadijat Abdulraheem and Ayomide Morakinyo: The Drug Laced Cake Producers
Meanwhile, in Kwara state, NDLEA operatives arrested Khadijat Abdulraheem, a fresh graduate, and Ayomide Morakinyo, a university student, for producing and selling drug laced cupcakes to students in the community. The search of their apartment led to the recovery of 42 pieces of drugged cakes, highlighting the pervasive nature of drug abuse among young people.
The recent operations conducted by the NDLEA across the country have not only exposed the intricate drug network but also underscored the agency’s commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking. The Chairman/CEO of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers for their relentless efforts in addressing the drug menace and emphasized the importance of a balanced approach to drug supply reduction and demand reduction efforts.
As the nation grapples with the scourge of drug abuse, these arrests serve as a stark reminder of the pervasive nature of the problem and the need for collaborative efforts to eradicate this menace from our society.
